Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre Hotels

Located on Victoria Harbor in downtown Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre is China's premiere convention and exhibition facility. It was built in 1988 to support China's rapidly increasing demand for a trade fair venue. The Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre is owned and operated by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

More On The Convention Center

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is located along Victoria Harbor in Wan Chai North. The center has a total of 83,000 square meters of exhibition space and 92,000 square meters of space that is rentable for functions. It was constructed in 1988 and has been expanded twice, once from 1994 to 1997, and again from 2006-2009.

Two convention halls and six exhibition halls are featured at the center, which also has 52 meeting rooms, seven restaurants and two theatres. Covered walkways connect the center to hotels and other nearby buildings. About 45 international trade fairs are hosted at the center each year, along with numerous other functions and conventions.

Multiple hotels are nearby, including upscale hotels such as the Fleming and the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, and economy hotels like the Marriot and the Harborview. A number of commercial buildings occupy the surrounding land.

Many of Hong Kong’s most popular attractions are near the convention center. Sports fans will appreciate the 40,000 seat Hong Kong Stadium, home to numerous rugby games. The Happy Valley Racecourse is also a short distance away.

Wanchai and Causeway Bay are the places to go for shopping and nightlife. Both districts contain a good mix of shops, restaurants and nightclubs. Causeway Bay has more department stores, while Wanchai has more local shops. Wanchai is also home to a variety of dance halls, karaoke rooms and art centers.

The Jade Market is also popular with some tourists. The main item sold is jade, of course, but souvenirs and trinkets are also available.

History buffs can visit the Museum of History or the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defense. Both are highly rated museums. The Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail is another option for those interested in the city’s history. Science aficionados can head over to the Science Museum, which is popular with both children and adults.

Visitors who want to see Hong Kong by water can hop aboard the Star Ferry and ride across Victoria Bay. The view is breathtaking, especially at night.

Families with children might wish to visit the Hong Kong Zoo and Botanical Gardens, or the Hong Kong Space Museum.
